• We believe all people regardless of race, sex, gender, gender identification, religion, ethnicity, nationality, creed, sexual orientation, age or ability, are equal and deserve equal chances in life.

  • We strive for social, economic, and environmental justice, and work actively to promote it.

  • We believe past history contributed to current social and economic inequalities.  We stand for righting past wrongs through mindful humanity and sustainable systemic change.

  • We oppose the current capitalist-centered economic model of development that was and continues to be the basis of domination and colonization, especially of Africa.   We strive for an equitable economic model that reduces and ultimately eliminates the wealth gap, values all lives, and protects the environment.

  • We define power as being based on the inner strength of people; not on politics and the government’s rights over human lives.

  • We repudiate militarism and violence on all levels: individual, organizational, state, and corporate.

  • We believe in the importance of building movements and people-centered relationships.  We believe in collective power and in each other we find the strength to be courageous and to take a stand against injustice.

  • We respect gender diversity and people of diverse sexual orientations and affirm sexual rights as human rights.

  • We respect spirituality and its guiding principles of justice and compassion in all aspects of human conduct.

  • We believe in telling our stories, affirming our African heritage, and owning our own narrative.
